River scum vs white hull?
How do you guys deal with the green tinge that forms on white hulls. I wipe it down after each use and wash it before and after each use. I've waxed the sides. The only thing I haven tried yet is the pressure washer and a buffer. Help!!!! Thanks in advance

I used to work at a hardware store in cottage country, guys were always coming in for toilet bowl cleaner. Active ingredient was muriatic acid. I've been using a 30 70 acid to water mix, scrubbing gently with a plastic bristle brush, then rinsing and washing the rest of the boat with regular car soap. Works great!

Re: River scum vs white hull?
anything with an acid base will work , the more acid you have the easier it will work
Muratic acid is nasty to work with , if your going to use anything that strong be extra cautious and rinse everything with soap
regular toilet bowl cleaner or lime away much easier to work with
I used to sell a wax at the local marina that worked great to deter this and spotting
pricey wax and only applied by hand , but was truly a full season wax

I use and sell a product called "Captain Chomp" hull cleaner. Biodegradable, and works well. Takes the brown staining from my lake off real nice. Gets my boats back to bleach white.
Spray it on, let it sit and re-apply as necessary. Only light scrubbing, if any, is required.

Instead of Muriatic use Oxyalic Acid, that is the active ingredient in "easy off" boat hull cleaner at a fraction of the price. It's a powder and comes in small plastic containers at ACE hardware. It is used as a wood bleach so look in the paint dept. I mix a few gallons of water and a cup full of the powder and have it in a pump up pressurized spray bottle with a hose on it, like you would use for weed killer or insecticide, available at ACE as well or the Depot or Lowes. Just spray it on and in a half hour it'll be clean as whistle, then rinse it off. Tough stains might need second treatment. I also have a spray bottle of Simple Green and a brush on a pole handy for stains that are not slime but dirt, acid will take slime off (algae) but not dirt.
