i understand and i thank you for the response. but i think that the foam core will be fine for now... and if it ever does rot i have no problem with redoing the boat i plan to redo it when im on my own anyways. i'm sort of desperate right now. Lol

If you do it right the first time you won't have to worry about doing it later own, if the foam does rot you'll have a chance of the boat delaminating and could serious harm you, I know that spring time is just around the corner and you want your boat going but don't take short cuts or get in a hurry, do it right and be safe boating

:D i understand. but yes i'm sure it will rot but you dont get where im coming from. the fiberglass will be layed thick and professionally. there will be on way that the foam will rot unless i hit something and blow a hole in the boat or something.. The foam she is using is strong and will hold up as long as i need it to before it rots which will be many years in the futue and i will be willing to redo the whole boat to drag race when i get a little older. i totally understand where u are coming from and i agree but this is going to be safe and strong for well enough time

Do you mean up here?

If so it has to come out, there is more core under it.
This is what is should look like before the core goes back in.

The best question about the material used for the core is what density it is. Being the core has to absorb the impact of the waves that is the most important # and is why balsa is so widely used. Balsa is superior to composite cores in impact strength.
