Did some research...The E Tec 200 is in the same weight class (430s) as the 175 opti.....hmm this looks more promising....however once into the 225 platform they are all 535lbs and up.
200 may be an option.

Russ mentioned the promax ran about 375 ....would another 50 some odd pounds make a difference on a v king?

Theres just something about that Merc roar that would take some getting used to living without lol.

I don't think 50#'s is going to break ya. The sound of the BRP is something else I love it.

One reason I like the new etecs is the warranty, In 2008 they had a run of bad injectors. I had a boat in this morning in for his third injector. I called BRP and asked if I could just replace the rest before he was out of warranty and they didn't hesatate and said they will send them out. Where mercury would rather hold off and see what happens.

Any guesses as to what a well set up v king with a 200 Evinrude....running some sort of chopper would top out at?

According to the OMC Service manual my 93 3.0L 225 Jonny weighed in at 455 pounds. Again, all that weight on a light 16 footer and had zero issues with driveability. Not to mention I installed an 18 Gallon fuel cell in the rear and the battery. I removed the rear couch section and built a folding rear plate with some speakers. Alot lighter then the couch section, plus I'm sure nobody would want to sit beside the offshore mid lol.
