Wanted to get out today just to give the boat another run and see if it would respond but I didnt get a chance. Although I did Go through the carbs tonight and I think she's under jetted.

According to OMC a 1993 225 came with :

#35 Idle Air jet
#66 intermediate Jet
#61D High Speed Jet

On my motor I pulled out :

#34 Idle
#47 Intermediate
#57 High

So that would explain why at idle and off load it was responsive but then Mid throttle and High Throttle it wasnt getting up. I guess these Jet numbers Equate to the actual size of the Orifice Jet Hole. Going to try and track down the stock jets aswell as a few sizes bigger Locally. Might not get a set in ontime for the weekend.

Wow, That intermediate jet was off a ways from stock. Tracking down some stock jets and going from there sounds like a good starting point.

Boat looks killer by the way. Thats a lot a motor for that little Vision. I like it!

It may or may ot help you out, But I just posted a grat set of big bore carbs in the parts section. They would fit your motor and may be cheaper than new jets. 912-604-5595 or frederick55@windstream.net

Now she moves, I Figured out the lack of power to plane. Went through the Carb Jets and the previous owner had some really Lean jets in it! There was 34, 47 and 57 jets in. I re-jetted with 35, 66 and 61D's as per a factory stock 93 225 Johnson. And this is the result.....

Tether Kill and PFD were on out there.

VIDEO HERE

I dont have my Chopper and shooter back yet so I was out on that Junk aluminum 23 pitch prop. Needless to say it was blowing out the prop and I couldnt give it WOT. Water was pretty rough on the St Lawrence aswell but I had the gps on the boat. At 3/4 to off and on WOT gps in KMS was at 108 to 114. I'm sure with it not blowing out aswell as on calmer waters and with the Chopper it should move pretty good.

i had the same problems ...
you don't want to put weight in the front of the boat......
she's running rich or just common in omc's ?
mine also preffered to idle at "level"
i never put it all the way down at idle unless i was gonna get readdy to launch it
she'ld clean up and go ....
maybe my jets are off?
i thought merc's might be the same ....
some other guys might clear this up
my evinrude was an '83 150 XP, so i don't know if it's the age...
it could be the nature of the beast , i just learned to deal with it and drove it to compensate
they are big 2 strokes...if you have no oil injection(like i don't) it could be all the above, angle of motor, flooding with oil, exhaust under water ....
sounds like it's ok , lol
your boat looks good
