Alarm noise,beep 2.5xri efi 1994 stock,lwp

Post: # 10991Post blowitup »

Went out yesterday and alarm noise starts beeping.Seems to get worse when hitting waves.Water pressure is 8-13psi Water temp 130-155 Engine still has oil injection and level is always full.
Replaced water/fuel separator and wire is connected.
Removed oil level sensor and ohmed. The sensor is open when level sensor is up(full)Has resistance when sensor goes down. Also ohmed both wires and they are not open.
I'm thinking that sensor is bouncing around in jug causing oil injection module to see resistance.Setting off alarm.
So i zipped tied sensor to full up level.Have not had a chance to try, maybe Wednesday.

Another problem is tach is reading high(almost double)3000rpm actual to 6000rpm on tach.It is gaffrig, and i checked grounds and tach wire from engine to tach.
I switched tach lead(gray wire) from top rectifier to bottom and will also have to wait till Wednesday to test.

What opinions do you guys have.

Hey Scott, I think you are on the right track with the oil injection system. Maybe you should also check out the pump sensor and the module. I found a diag on s&F hope it helps a little, maybe it would be better to just delete the injection system and premix.

Personally thats what I would do and im sure just about everyone else here and on S&F would say the same thing. I have seen a few people have there oil injection go out on them and burn up there motor in no time flat. Peace of mind really. Just dont forget to put the oil in your gas. I know I will be running my OMC premix. To be honest, I dont know if it even has oil injection on it. lol

As soon as I got my 2.5 Mag III I went to the nearest Mercury/Mariner dealer and got everything to delete the oiling system. I only trust mixing my oil and gas.

Look at the back of the tach, there should be #'s and a adjustable pointer on it. I'm guessing it will be on 12 and should be on 6. That's the # of poles on the charging system and most tachs are adjustable to be used with different motors.
