boat seats+ swivel base, yes no, why ?

I'm right into a full resto, and I bought my front seats for the project. All the hydrostreams that I have seeing here and there are mounted on a wood box frame or directly on the floor. Why is that ? Why not having swivel seats or or at least on a rail so they can be ajusted. Maybe not the passenger one, but at least the driver side, especially if equipped with a foot throttle ??!! Is wood box system only to save weight since hydrostreams were built as race platforms ?

Just curious, and wondering a bit

my pass seat is a swivel great for the spotter, don't have to get their eardrums ripped apart in the rear bench & can stay out of the wind, both driv & pass are mounted on boxes but no hot foot & I got a voyager

Both seats in mine are sliding, on 2 or 3" posts with square bases screwed down. I like the slider, even though I'm a little guy it's still like a jungle gym trying to step over the seat and not get snagged in the steering wheel, then stepping over the throttle cable so I can sit properly with my legs under the dash...

I use to have the back to back seats and didn't like them at all, after a few years I replaced them again and went with little buckets all around and the front 2 are on swivel and I enjoy them. just make sure you get good swivels that don't free spin.

What swivel bases work well? Anyone know of where to get hydrostream seats from the company that went under a few years ago?
