Re: boat seats
Well, Chet was over at my place today and while working on the UMPBA web site I found a picture of my junkie seats that I am going to have redone I think. Otherwise I will be hitting up AFR for some of his.
The bottom and the back and such is ABS Plastic but the seat cushion and back cushion have a wood base and are totally soaked. Wonder if I could do an ABS plastic or something so the seats are essentially all composite and no wood in them.
Dont laugh, There paid fol. LoL

Plus the price is nice too. I think iBoats.com has these seats too but cant remember off hand.

Re: boat seats
hip, talked to a friend of mine with a lil experience in this and he said when you get the seat stripped down to the plastic, mask out the areas that u want to have cusions in( the seat bottom and back) then lay some glass to where you build up a template for the cusions. when it drys u can pop it out and use that peice to foam and cover for your seat inserts. then theres no wood. or i bet you could use the wood as a template to make new ones out of glass. just a thought and proly not the correct way to do it.Hippie459MN wrote:The bottom and the back and such is ABS Plastic but the seat cushion and back cushion have a wood base and are totally soaked. Re: boat seats
I think plastic would be the way to go since you can't staple fiberglass.

Re: boat seats
Yeah, I am going to weigh the cost of just getting my seats recovered ver buying some new ones. I do have some in mind (Link I posted a few posts up) if I go the new route.77viper wrote:I think plastic would be the way to go since you can't staple fiberglass.
As for the seat bottoms, I think I will go with plastic as then it wont rot out and like chet said, cant really staple into fiberglass.

ur on the right track now. Those will make good seats when recovered.
Do you have the rear seat too?

Re: boat seats
I dont. It was so rotten and water logged I just about couldnt even get it to burn. Someone had made the rear seat and didnt use anything to protect the wood. Boy was it a wet nasty moldy mess. LoLccrick wrote:ur on the right track now. Those will make good seats when recovered.

Here is what it looked like though before I trashed it.
It doesnt look like its really that bad in the picture. To bad they didnt actually seal up the wood cause they had a great design that went over the front part of the fuel tank I have nicely.
Here is my fuel tank...
