My Vulture never needed that kind of sawing with the wheel. It was straight as as an arrow. I'm sure VNo2 will be the same.

You wernt going fast enough then. :mrgreen:

Once the boat gets up the pad is when its time to really steer that thing. My uncles vking was the same way. You could drive it all day one handed with little work on the wheel but once you started hauling and it was up on the pad it took both hands to keep it going straight on the pad. It was a fun ride too.

Actually, I got lucky and my V-King no longer chine walks. Balance and set-up was key (I actually set up a level in the cockpit to ensure it floated flat when static).

I can now run flat out with no walk, but that doesnt help me learn how to drive it should it decide to at some point.

I always thought this was a good vid (below) to show how to correct (non hydrostream). Seems odd to chop into the walk, as opposed to against it, but appearently it works (or maybe this allows the boat to lead the next sweep).

Maybe this should be on a new thread (new chine walk thread). One of these days I will learn how to handle the dreaded chine.

I agree, the guy who set it up for me spent a long time getting it right. He wouldn't deliver it until he got it the way he wanted it. It made me mad as hell watching my boat run around the lakes before I took delivery on it. I thought he was just joy riding but now I know differently. I wish he would have explained what he was doing then. Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to say this one will ride the same. That one didn't have a jackplate. :lol:

A jack will help with walk absolutly. On flat water you can get the to balance good. Different story in some chop though. In lake st clair you end up with waves in all different directions which makes it intresting. The more you air the thing out the more gyrations you get, less prop in the water makes it better but it can still happen. The old sayin is if it ain't chinin, ya ain't flyin!

i sold the boat back in "92
now i have my '77 Viper i bought about 15 yrs ago
