Any jeep cherokee owners?

Post: # 3337Post 77viper »

I pulled my boat with a 91 explorer sport with a 5 speed last year and it did ok but not quite enough power. Since I'm out of work and it's too cold to finish the viper I have too much time on my hands and decided I need a new tow rig. The explorer was my first suv and I like the extra interior room a lot so I decided I need a new one. I have been looking at the cherokee and grand cherokee but I'm not sure how they tow a boat. It will be towing a xt vagas or my viper. I'm looking at spending about 2-3 grand.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Either should do ok. Go with the bigger engine though. Not like your pullin 7k or anything. That viper ain't gona weigh

I towed my vegas to Omaha last year and it hated life. I can't pull 5th gear and it spins a little high at 70 in 4th gear.

Well I ended up buying a 93 grand cherokee with 125,000 miles on it. It came from Missouri and there isn't one speck of rust, almost unheard of in MN with the salt on the roads for you southerners. It has the 318 so it should pull the vegas just fine. Within the first 24 hour I had it out in the snow today and it did great, went through more than my buddies 07 chevy :D . Next will be a 2" lift and some tires but I will be finishing my viper motor first.

I picked up a allison seat that is red so I'm thinking the viper will also be red that way it will match my vegas too.

I have a renter and between the 2 of us there are 5 vehicles parked here all 5 are green.

I think green is the only color jeeps come in. I know 4 people that own them, 2 of them having the big 360 v8 in them, and they are all the same green. They are all work horses too. You should be happy with it.

My tow vehicle of choice is a 97 gmc suburban. I will post a picture when I get home.
