i just bought a laptop for my son, a toshiba
brand new 399 on sale future shop
they still have more
i recommend getting something that has a dedicated video card for graphics
you'll see it on the spec list
or else you'll be using your PC chip set for that

About 95% of all laptops have on board video and can not be replaced without replacing the whole mother board. The reason for this is to be able to keep them more compact. As far as the video specs in your new lap top, I dont think you will ever have anything to worry about unless you start doing some heavy gaming or some really graphic intensive stuff and I dont see you doing any of that.
