Sorry, I just had to post this too... Having never seen the boat personally when it was completed (Only pictures), I can say I personally seen much of the work that went into this boat...

Only thing to do next is something better.

Yes, glad you're OK. The loss of the boat will hurt longer than the ribs will. It's really just so unfortunate. :(

Thanks guys, I can say it was completely my fault for pushing it to hard to soon. I have been so busy that I didn't get the seat time I needed to feel what the boat wanted and was going to do. The first time going full throttle was at Three lakes when the picture of the boat completely out of the water at close to 100, that should have had me more concerned than it did. I didn't use it until the night before I went to Iowa to race and after 20 minutes of running the pin came out of the clutch dog in the gear case and stuck it in forward but I took it and raced it anyway, another bad decision. At the end of the 1/4 on the last race the gearcase went into reverse and twisted the drive shaft and propshaft as well as tore up everything inside the case so I couldn't drive it for a week and a half while I had a driveshaft shortened. Anyway I might have had 4 hours of run time in the boat when it went over.

The boat would lean to the right at about 100 then straighten up from the beginning and I was trying to figure out why and correct it. I was raising the motor as I had had it 1/8" below the pad from break in. As I was going up the lean was still happening but at a higher speed. This last time out it leaned at 107 away from the landing but I stopped at that speed. On the way back I decided to see if it would come out of it and as is straightened up it lifted off the water just long enough to realize I was airborne then it went over violently. It did a complete flip in the air and as the bow came down it hit the water throwing me out and tearing off the bow, the water pressure went through the boat blowing it apart. Somehow the thing was upright and floating about 50 feet from where I stopped.

I am planning on doing another one like it but with a shorter dash, that's one thing I didn't think looked right. There are a couple options but I'm going to wait a bit on starting it. There might be something else in the works as well as there are some boats in the club that are a lot faster than what a vking can do safely.
