hydraulic steering
While I was at BPR this week -Ronnie had said I should change my steering to hydraulic, what does the general population think and is hydraulic better, safer , than teleflex cable steering? Thanks

Re: hydraulic steering
Less effort and torque on the wheel.
I have a new tilt sea star helm that i will not be using if you decide to go that way.

Re: hydraulic steering
I'm going to try cable and wing plate steering in my vking, it's more of a race style. I have hyd in my vegas and viper and love it. Being the vking is going to be set up to race at over 110 mph I want to feel what the motor is doing.

Re: hydraulic steering
My Viper is the first hi perf boat I've owned with hydrolic steering (Sea Star Pro ). I will never go back to cable.
It's spendy at around $1200.00 but worth it ....to me.

Re: hydraulic steering
Hi Alaskastreamin, I wish I could buy your boat- after seeing your rebuilding pics - your boat came out mint and probably strong enough to handle 2 foot waves where I live. I am leaning towards the hydraulic steering, Ronnie said Im going to need it. Thanks for recommending Ronnie hes great and I know his partner (he used to own a shop in the town I work in). Maybe later today I will take a good long look at the boat and fire up the motor. Your garage or is it a show room (where your viper is along with two other vehicles with trophies on them are) looks great!!

Re: hydraulic steering
I'm glad you got to meet Ronnie. He's a good guy. Just think how much you learned since you bought your boat.
That's just a shelled in 40x60 garage at our Washington property. We put our heart and soul into every build.( We build them in Alaska and ship to Wa) Caprice has a hard time letting loose of the projects though. You can see all the cars in the link in my signature.
