Re: The lets find Hippie a motor thread.
I like it! Printed and saved. If all goes well with this new job next week (I will post about that later tonight) and he still has it in 2 weeks it just might be mine if it checks out good. Chet, You mind going with to give it a good look if I do jump on it? Plus its period correct kinda with my boat being a 1977. Thanks for the find. My craiglist search skills suck I guess cause I can never find that stuff.

Re: The lets find Hippie a motor thread.
What was it again? 200? Want 200 or bigger. Would love to find a 3.6 or 4.0 300 johnson but the 2 that I have found for a reasonable price are 1200+ miles away and after gas or shipping it wouldnt be worth it.RussF wrote:my motor should be for sale from the guy I traded it in from in the spring hes Moomba on S&F

Re: The lets find Hippie a motor thread.
200 EFI got the motor from S&F last year,
Hello Gentlemen, Here's a rundown on this motor. Started as a 1991 XR4 150 (owned it from new) and since March '08 is now the following:
90 Hours on stock fresh rebuild 1997 (purchased from a member here on S&F, thanks Glenn) 200 dropped on powerhead w/metal cage bearings oil injection and timing boxes removed and converted to EFI. Break in procedures strictly adhered to with Merc Premium oil then after break in ran Pennsoil Premium Plus at 40:1.
40 amp charging system, new stator, trigger, and switchboxes in 2005, new JSRE plug wires
Yellow Boyesen Reeds, 200 Promax ECU (will be put on when I get my new engine)
1991 Mid great condition, serviced annually, with upper and lower solid engine mounts, Bob’s tuner
2001 200 stock lower 1.87:1 gears. ALL new internals this summer with new water impeller (this week when winterized), Mercury inlet plates installed.
Included with motor: Intake with factory reeds and carbs if desired to convert back to carb and Foil for cavitation plate if needed for holeshot.
The cowl is original and in great shape except for a nick here and there that I touched up with Merc paint and still has the decals of the 150 XR4 (bucket style) and the skirt is clam shell. Never got around to changing the decals.
I have a Brucato SVS/ACU on right now (coming off to sell though) and Tony had the ACU set up for a 200 Promax to limit out at 6750 RPM's. I never ran it over 6000 til just this September when I sold the Astro and put this engine on my new Allison 2+2. The Astro ran 72 MPH @ 5800 RPM's 2" below pad w/Tempest Plus 25P. The Allison runs same prop 75MPH @ 6200RPM's 2" below pad and needs to go higher. All it needs is a nosecone if put on a hull like an Allison etc. but for a standard bass rig the Merc inlet plates are all that's needed. I have been told that with the basic mods done that it can be run like a 200 Promax. (due to the reeds, engine mounts, metal cage bearings, and premix).
I have been bit by the power bug and am buying a fresh rebuild '96 225 Promax w/sportmaster lower so that is why I am selling.
Forgot to add a few pics and tried to edit but did not work. I'll post a few separately and more later when I get a chance. thanks, Craig email astro@ptd.net
