1977 Vulture Rebuild

Postby Hippie459MN » Apr 08, 2009 11:07 pm

Well, I am leaving early thursday morning and heading south east to go pick up my latest purchase. My 1977 Hydrostream... I will have more info and pics when I pick it up.

It needs power and is rigged for a Merc but might have a 175 Evenrude for it off my uncles Glastron if his neighbor backs out on selling me a 225 merc.

Dont worry, I will post details and pics as I get them. :boating:

Well, I made it home with my new Vulture but it wasnt easy. About 1/4 of the way home the transmission on my truck decided to go south and lost overdrive and about 3/4 of 3rd gear. After a quick temparay fix (Gotta love Lucas products) I was back on the road. It was a slow drive home but I made it.

Here are a few pictures of my new 1977 Hydrostream Vulture.

It needs a few small things here and there and some power but it will be in the water this summer for sure. First on order is some rubrail, a windshield, and a shifter. Then the seats will get some attention and I should be in good shape for the summer.

Many more pictures to come as I get to work on this thing. :boating:

And Todd (hotrodtodd), Thank you for the boat!

Nice looking boat! What are you going to power it with?

I have a 175 Rude I might get from my uncle. Had a brand new power head right from evenrude put on about 4 years ago, Took it out once then the boat sat parked in his garage since then so it has about 8 hours on it tops.

Otherwise I am going to try and talk my uncles neighbor into letting go of a 225 Merc he has sitting in his garage but he keeps telling me he is going to get a boat for it someday. Been 2 years since he sold the wrecked boat it was on.

Then again I do have a 70's-ish115 inline 6 merc that needs some TLC that I think would look great on this if I got it all cleaned up and running. Wouldnt to terribly fast but it would look good.
