Attach top side to hull

Post: # 22483Post RSWORDS »

I'm pulling my factory rail off and replacing it with the rail from taco marine

http://tacomarine.com/product/V11-3161/1-1-8-x-1-1-4-Sandwich-Style-Flexible-Rub-Rail

Since the factory rail that held the two halves together is gone how should i attach them to each other?

Will the insert in that rail with screws every 6" be sufficient?

Check out proprider's posts here. He shows how he rebonded the deck to the hull after he split his Viper.

I've heard of guys just using 3M 5200. With a good bond that stuff will never separate. (But I wouldn't trust it 100%)

I'm probably gonna do something similar. Rebond with 5200, rivets every 8 inches, then new rubrail with screws through the insert.
But also add strips of glass to the inside seam as well.
