Vector recore - how much core needed

I'm in the middle of restoring a 79 vector. I've almost got all the grinding done and am about to order materials to recore it. I've been looking at recore pictures online and it looks like people are putting way more core back in than what I cut out of my boat. Seems like I see people covering the entire floor in balsa but I didn't have near that much in my boat originally. I believe mine was factory but maybe not? Planning on building it as light as possible but still be able to cross a lake so it won't be an all out drag boat build but I do plan on it running 100 before its done with a 2.5 merc. Thanks for any help

factory viper/vector had core on entire hull bottom. not saying its neccessary but thats what ive seen from factory. alot of people are getting away with less or none at all(just stringer setups) with success.

did yours have float boxes under gunwales???

did yours have floor in it?? or stringers exposed?? side or center steer??

covering entire hull with core material ......i think we've been using 8 - 2'x4' sheets of balsa.

Had a floor in it, side steer, with float boxes. I'm pretty sure it was factory. I'm switching to center steer. I thought about just doing a stringer setup but I don't think it will hold up going across my lake as its a 13 mile diameter bowl that can get ugly...not a huge lake by any stretch but the whole bowl thing doesn't help. I plan on a coosa transom with big knee stringers but I still haven't made my mind up on the balsa core. I know it will last a lifetime if done correctly but workmanship doesn't matter if I happen to crack the hull and then I still got rot. I'm completely open to suggestions as I'm still in the planning phase

Yes the float boxes are out and the core under them..
Only thing that hasn't come out yet is the crossbrace forward in the nose. I'm going to add support to my trailer tomorrow before I take all that out

Not sure where you are talking about people putting more in than you took out then??????

Core under float boxes......between floor register and stringer...over pad...and forward of dash couple of feet

Maybe it was just so rotten it came out with a broom and I didn't realize it was actually core...it was pretty sad shape

I belive I ordered 10 sheets for my viper, had two left over when core was done in the bottom. I think I am going to reinforce the deck with the rest, or build something else for the hull support with it
