Hi Guys, I am new to this site and it is a great place to learn anything Hydrostream. Hippie459mn, I had to laugh when I saw the pic. of your vulture. I have the same boat with blue and silver flake paint, and the floor looked exactly like yours. Now, I need to ask a question. Before I found this and a few other sites that showed how to do a recore I was afraid to do my own. Somebody I knew said they could do it no problem, he worked in a boat building shop and does fiberglass work all the time no big deal. I gave him the boat after I cleaned the hull out down to good clean glass. All he had to do was glass in the stringers and core. I will show you what he did if I can post some pic. After I got the boat back he showed me some pic. of what he did. I was happy at the time the boat could be used, but after learning about how to do it the right way,well I am not happy anymore. My question is do you guys think I should remove everything he did and start from scratch or can I glasss new stringers in over the core he put in the pad section and core the rest of the floor. I plan on replacing the transom this winter I have already started to pulled the floor out just not sure about the bottom? This not going to be a fast boat 70 to 75 maybe. I have a 25 checkmate with a big block thats in mid to high 80s that is my main boat, the hyrostream is more for going out during the week for a quick ride or pulling a skier or tube. Sorry this is so long but just trying to give some info on what the boat will be used for. I just tried to upload the pic. it said the file was to big I will try to up load them again later.

Thoes stringers need to go in the pad area and not out so far. Someone correct me if I am wrong but thats not the correct way for structural reasons. Plus the way its done there, there is no drain holes for water to get back to the rear of the boat. By the looks of that my personal opinion would be to rip it out and do it right.

As for the stringers on top of the core, Thats up to you I guess. Chet (77viper) did his vking that way if I remember right. From the factory the stingers are on the hull in the Vultures and thats how I did mine.

WOW!!!! I just noticed that last picture... What with that motor bracket? I would do away with that ASAP and fix that transom right and there will be zero need for that or any so called transom reinforcments (Band aids for bad transoms)

I would cut it all out and do it right.

It depends on what you want to do with the boat. If you plan on just using it for a few years and pulling skier now and then, it's probably OK. If you plan on keeping it and are in fact trying to go 70-75 (which is very fast to me), I would start over or maybe just modify what he has already done.

Hey, did y'all notice the two white "vacuum release tubes" on the third pic. I like that idea better than the bolting some angle iron onto the bottom of the boat.

I did. I would love to see more pictures of it as I thought about that for my vulture but wasn't sure how to go about it. I know Howard did it once and it worked really good I guess but stuck with the angle piece. Easy of installation perhaps for the consumer.

Could you snap a few pics of the vent tubes. Would love to see how it was done on your boat.

I was looking at a Vulture listed on craigs in St louis for 3000$ was cored and the stringer are out farther like these in pryer pics has a rod locker in it and it was copyed off the the original take alook at it I would post link but Im computer dumb . Hippe maybe you can help it had photo bucket in listing so you could see the core job . I was looking at it more for parts . I need a jack plate for my Voyager . Forgot to mention it is a Xt hull

OK First the transom bracket is not a bracket it is just 2 plates of alum. bolted to the transom with a block of wood in between. That is how they rasied the motor up. The top 2 bolts of the motor go thru that and the bottom bolts go thru the transom. Not my idea, that is how they did it. I am planning on replacing the transom and doing like you did and raise the whole thing.
The vacuum release tubes worked great. I could not get the boat to break loose at all till I put them in. My angle brackets on the bottom of the boat are pretty much rotten away. I can tell you that when I accelerate hard from a standing start I can hear them whistle and the boat gets up on top pretty good, with them blocked off the boat wants to plow the nose. I will get some more pic. tomorrow. It is just a thru hull fitting and bilge hose. Just make sure you have the end of the hose higher then the water line. doh

The newer Larson flyers with outboard had this same issue ( creating vacuum )
there are other ways of doing this than putting holes in the boat!!!
