well....Core and transome....vulture
So after about 2 months of wasting time and considering selling the boat i decided to cut out part of the floor and take a core sample. Before i even got to the core, while ripping up the floor in the back, almost half of the inner skin of the transome ripped up with the floor. After finding out about the transome, i took a core sample on the port side and it was dry right next to the pad. Being hopefull i then took a sample from the stbd side and it is completely soaked. So let the fun begin. I will need tons of advice. I will be looking to hippies thread for help. It looks as though my boat is completely original. I already cut out the splashwell and part of the floor. I will take pictures today and upload them with some of the questions i have. I have my heart set on nida-core stringers, transome and floor. But i dont know if it will be worth it. Any opinions or scoldings are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

I have a ton of pictures but they all seem to be to large of a file to load as an attatchment. Anyone know how to shrink them?

I have never done anything like this before. The question is..what order do i do the boat in. Core first then transome or vise versa. Any tips on doing it?

I don't think there is a real order to it but I am doing my core removal first then transom but thinking transom will go back in first so I can do stringers with knees then lay core around. Thought about doing stringers on top of the core but think I will just do it like it was originally.

I agree with Hippie there isn't a right way to do it. Just make sure the bottom is straight when the core and stringers go in or you will have a mess on your hands. Take your time and read up in the restoration section and feel free to ask questions.
Good luck

Not to nit pick but do you have this boat properly supported ? The boat can flex and be out of proportion if its not supported right while its apart. And then wont be right when you put it back togather .Just asking because the first houseboat we did we made this mistake.

yeah supported the boat pretty well. I have it super low with blocks all along the pad and 4 stands around the outside of the boat.probobly could have done it a little better but i think it should be ok for keeping the boat from moving around too much
