Looking for suggestions for something mild as to speed. In my younger days with checkmate's and action marine's, I had my share of speed.
Now I'm looking for something in the 60's no jack plate no exotic props.
I'm thinking of a 150 or 200 range mounted on the transom.
What size shaft? What prop? What kind of speed could I expect?
I just need something to get me around the Florida keys nicely

Re: 87 Vegas XT engine suggestions
See post on engine section. Any healthy stock 150 on the transom should put a Vegas XT in the 70's--no lwp or cone. Note: Mazco RE3 (not sure of prop builder status--new owner passed)
*U can run OMC props on a Merc but can't run merc props on OMC (unless u re-hub) --spine length different
Do u prefer OMC (BRP), Merc or Yamaha?

You can drill out the props to fit on an omc. Just don't get into the splines of the prop and you'll be fine. A lot of guys do that. A lot cheaper than new hub or respline a shaft.

That's what this site's knowledge base is for! Look up the model and all the specs are there. The Vegas was derived from the Vulture, so do some reading on that hull as wellYellowjacket wrote: ↑Dec 24, 2019 1:47 pm Someone help me to distinguish the difference between the models of Vegas's.mine is a '84.5 seater.front gas tank.
