Vector Problem
I think if I go for a ride like I did yesterday I'll get sea sick! The porpoising on my vector is unbelievable! Can anyone give me some advice! I have an OMC LOOPER v6 on the back if that helps! And the bottom has never been touched!
I heard of putting a straight plate on the motor like a planing foil only wider like 4" by 18"wide would stop it! How true is that?

Re: Vector Problem
We would need more set-up info, then hopefully the Vector owners might start chiming in.
Are you running a jack plate? If so, how far back is the offset? What is your prop shaft position (relative to the pad)? What prop are you running? Is the porpoising limited to a specific speed range?
If you havent seen it yet, Aeromarine Research has a good article on porpoising (see article #15):

Re: Vector Problem
It's 1/4" under pad with hydrofoil! Bobs manual jackplate with 5" or 5&1/2" setback! Right now I have a chopper 26 that I ran! I also have a 30 spenelli but haven't tried it! And it porpoises at all speeds!

Re: Vector Problem
Where is the fuel tank? Try moving weight around. Set the jackplate at 2.5".

Re: Vector Problem
My V-King had a similar problem. The amount of porpoise decreased as I raised the engine. Also, once I got the boat balanced in run configuration (I.e. with pilot aboard) (side to side) it went away completely.

Re: Vector Problem
My fuel cell is in the back and it's set up in race configuration with pilot in the center!
-Do u mean move the jackplate down 2.5 or in towards the transom?
