1987 VALERO YT SET UP
I am new to your Forum and relatively new to the Hydrostreams as well. Not to performance boating though. I have owned this boat almost 3 years and been wet 3 times. I am determined to get it functional and enjoy this summer. I have a 1987 Valero Yt that I have had the transom checked, floors and even pulled the rear flooring out and have checked the core in the rear of the hull. Had some center sponson repair work done and all reglassed on the inside of the storage compartment. Fresh gel on the bottom. Had the block and heads done by Ruck and assembly done locally. Merc started its life as a 2.5 175EFI Motor. Should be in the 225-230HP range now. Powerhead it setup with an adjustable EFI Laser. Still sitting on a bench. Boat has a custom 4" setback bolted to the transom and a Land & Sea Jackplate bolted to that totaling 8" setback from the transom. I believe there is 4" built into the hull as well, not sure where you calculate from? I have the Bob's Nose Cone on a stock 2 to 1 gearcase as well. 20" midsection. How do I set this up and with what prop do I run for performance and also for stability. Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated.

Re: 1987 VALERO YT SET UP
Thanks Guys! Can you Guys tell me if I am on the right track with my set-up? My fresh powerhead is sitting on a dolly. If there is anything I need to change up I would like to do it before the powerhead goes back on? Is my setback right? What prop do I need to be running?

Re: 1987 VALERO YT SET UP
BTW- How fast can you expect a Valero YT to run in ideal conditions with 225-230 HP of Mercury Racing Engine? I know ideal conditions are not easy to come by. Is it a 90mph boat? Not sure what the hull can do?
