Re: 89' Vegas V / 91' Yamaha ProV 200... Top speed set up, school me please

Congratulations, first power boat and its a Stream. I can't answer all your questions, but I'll share some typical beliefs about your hull and set up. The Vegas V hull is used with the Vulture and others, and they are known to like a lot of setback. To go faster, you'll want to use a surfacing prop,...

Re: 88 vision

I also have no experiences with the Vision so these comments are general. Boats often porpoise because there too much weight in the rear. This means that your center of gravity is too far back. Your engine is heavier than the boat was designed for, and the set back compounds the issue. With that pow...

Re: VIPER Help

See if this helps....First the porpoising...These pad hulls are all about balance and by putting a much heavier motor on the Viper you've changed the balance point. You can compensate for this by adding ballast up front. Sand bags are popular because they can be tested all over the boat. If you have...

Re: Help me identify this maybe hydrostream!

Welcome, and you're right..." Looks to be just like a Hydrostream Vector without the windshield and elevated rear sides. " However the VIN does not correspond with Hydrostream VIN formula. I can only speculate but maybe because it never had a windshield, running lights or a floor, it's a r...

Re: I don't really want to do this

Last week I started the Merc. It ran great on the driveway. I checked the compression and plugs and everything looks good. So just when I decide to clean up the motor for a different boat...I sold it!...all of it. The gentlemen that bought it is experienced in fiberglass and fast outboards. Hopefull...

Re: I don't really want to do this

Thank you. It was a great boat for me. I've had it for over ten years and this looks like an obvious sign too move on. It's listed for sale now and I've had a few calls. One from a fiberglass tech. It'll take someone like that to deal with the deck.

Re: Motor how much is too much weight for a motor.

The following are facts and opinions ... :) The Vking hull was ENGINEERED for a 400 lb. engine. Fuel cell should be in the rear for balance, performance and safety. If you ballast the front to compensate for the heavy rear, it'll be like having two passengers all the time. You will only be running 2...
