Your kid is more important. I bought a 01 150 johnson that I thought it just stuck a ring but after taking it apart found it smeared the piston. I cleaned the block but will need a new piston.

Im in to and mine will be ready even if I have to sell the kid. LoL Not really but I will get it done one way or another.

Chet, I would love to come down this weekend but I got baby most of it and this not working yet thing is killing me. Got the boat back in the yard though. :D

If its an original 1977 (No prev core work or anything) thats in need of a new transom, I can guarantee its will need a core as well. Might as well do it all to be safe. I did the mallet test on mine and it sounded solid then I discovered it had been repaired with plywood for a core. ugh... :( lol

If you dont mind me asking, Is it a blue and silver metal flake vulture that you picked up? And Welcome aboard.

speaking of replaced core and nose ... i just picked up a 77 vulture and have no idea where to start it needs transom work and i'm wondering what to look for as far as "core and stringer" damage any advice?

Im sure it needs to be replaced but that one atleast has a motor and its about 1000 miles closer to my house than mine was. LoL
